Sarah Kobos was born and raised in Columbia, SC. Growng up, she was always drawn to the arts, whether it be visual arts, music, acting or writing. As Sarah got older, she became more and more passionate about expressing her creativity through visual arts, and eventually found her niche in photography. Since day one, she hasn’t been able to put down her camera. Her love for photography continues to grow as she learns new and old processes and techniques that can make images come to life, be it through film or through pixels. For most of her college career, she’s been contributing and working with local magazines. Sarah knew she wanted a career in the magazine field once she became Assistant Photo Editor at the University of South Carolina’s magazine, Garnet & Black, at the end of her Sophomore year. Now a senior, she is the main Photo Editor at G&B. Sarah spent this past summer interning at photo studios in New York City to learn more about the photography business, gain experience, and make more connections. Her anticipated graduation date is May 2012. She will be receiving a BFA in Art Studio-Photography and a minor in Art History. She plans on going to graduate school in New York City for her MFA the following fall. During this time, she’ll keep working towards her desired career choice, which is to be a photo editor at a magazine in NYC while doing her own projects and freelance work on the side. Sarah has a promising future and the drive to make it happen.
